Finding smaller breweries off the beaten path is one of the driving forces behind the Liquid Alchemy blog. While looking for new places to visit, we discovered Endless Brewing in Montrose, PA, just thirty minutes south of Binghamton, NY. After a short drive through a picturesque area of Pennsylvania, we soon arrived at the brewery, ready to taste and learn about the many beers that Endless Brewing produces. Continue reading

Ravines Wine Cellars, Hammondsport, NY
I was excited to visit Ravines Wine Cellars, one of my favorite regional wineries, during our weekend adventure travelling around Keuka Lake. Morten Hallgren, the winemaker, and his wife Lisa, a chef, have built a world class winery right here in the Finger Lakes region of New York that blends Old World traditions and New World innovations. This was not my first time here, but I was delighted to revisit the tasting room so I could share a bit of their story and the many wonderful wines that are available. Continue reading
The Brewery of Broken Dreams, Hammondsport, NY
I’ll admit that I am a bit obsessed with loons. Every summer, on our Adirondack camping trip, I enjoy spending hours on the water just observing these majestic birds and listening to their calls. You can imagine my excitement when I saw a brewery logo that incorporated a crying loon at Tap NY two years ago! It turns out that the brewery, The Brewery of Broken Dreams, was located within driving distance from home, at the southern tip of Keuka Lake. We made sure to visit them on our trek around the lake so that we could try their wide selection of beers and learn a bit more about the brewery and the story behind the teary-eyed loon. Keuka Brewing Company, Hammondsport, NY
There is no shortage of places that offer delicious craft beverages in a casual, friendly setting around Keuka Lake. One such locale, Keuka Brewing Company, the first brewery to open on the lake back in 2008, made for an excellent stop on our tour through the area. We had a pleasant conversation with co-owner, Rich Musso, about the business and the diverse selection of beer they have been producing for the past few years, while sampling some of their current offerings. Continue reading
Hunt Country Vineyards, Branchport, NY
Keuka Lake is home to so many fine wineries and breweries that you couldn’t possibly visit them all comfortably in one, or even two days. Having been a few years since we headed down this way, it was high time that we stopped at some of our favorites for the blog. Our first stop of the trip was Hunt Country Vineyards. We arrived early enough on a hot summer day, and received a warm welcome to the tasting room by Ann Kelly. Continue reading
