While on a recent trip to the Southern Tier region of New York, we made a small hop over the state line to check out one of the area’s newest breweries, Bluestone Brewing Company. Having been open for almost a year at the time of our visit, we wanted to see what kind of interesting concoctions Bluestone was brewing for its customers. Continue reading

The Brewery of Broken Dreams, Hammondsport, NY
I’ll admit that I am a bit obsessed with loons. Every summer, on our Adirondack camping trip, I enjoy spending hours on the water just observing these majestic birds and listening to their calls. You can imagine my excitement when I saw a brewery logo that incorporated a crying loon at Tap NY two years ago! It turns out that the brewery, The Brewery of Broken Dreams, was located within driving distance from home, at the southern tip of Keuka Lake. We made sure to visit them on our trek around the lake so that we could try their wide selection of beers and learn a bit more about the brewery and the story behind the teary-eyed loon. Continue reading
Keuka Brewing Company, Hammondsport, NY
There is no shortage of places that offer delicious craft beverages in a casual, friendly setting around Keuka Lake. One such locale, Keuka Brewing Company, the first brewery to open on the lake back in 2008, made for an excellent stop on our tour through the area. We had a pleasant conversation with co-owner, Rich Musso, about the business and the diverse selection of beer they have been producing for the past few years, while sampling some of their current offerings. Continue reading
Roscoe Beer Company, Roscoe, NY
Usually when making a return visit to a site I’ve written about for Liquid Alchemy, a short addendum to the current post is all that is needed. However, in the two and a half years since I was last at Roscoe Beer Company, enough has changed to warrant writing an entirely new article. I was pleasantly surprised and excited by the work that has gone on at the brewery to improve its image and the caliber of beer that is being released. Continue reading
Cambridge Brewing Company, Cambridge, MA
With so many diverse breweries around the Boston, Massachusetts area, it was hard to decide which ones I had time to write about in this blog as I did not always have my notebook with me. After spending the day exploring the museums and campuses of Harvard and MIT, we walked down to Cambridge Brewing Company where we spent a pleasant evening enjoying their wide selection of beer while having an excellent meal. Continue reading
Jack’s Abby Brewing, Framingham, MA
Jack’s Abby Brewing in Framingham, Massachusetts has been producing some exceptional lagers since 2011. These beers are conditioned at lower temperatures which makes for a cleaner and clearer final product. This process may take longer but is worth the wait. I am a huge fan of their barrel aged beers and so when I saw we would be so close to them on the drive to Boston, I just had to stop in. Continue reading
Iron Duke Brewing, Ludlow, MA
In planning our trip to Boston, we made sure to include some of the breweries along the way. One of our stops brought us to the town of Ludlow, Massachusetts where we discovered Iron Duke Brewing nestled in a series of old brick manufacturing buildings. This fairly new brewery had a lot of great beers to try and we loved the atmosphere. Continue reading
Westfield River Brewing Company, Southwick, MA
While traveling to Boston, MA for a vacation, we decided to stop at some breweries along the way to see what kind of brewing scene was taking place in Massachusetts. These brief stops were to give us a quick taste of what each brewery had to offer. Our first destination was Westfield River Brewing Company, located not far from the Connecticut border in the town of Southwick. Continue reading

Blue Collar Brewery, Poughkeepsie, NY
I love it when our travels take us to new and interesting breweries and wineries that may not be on the radar just yet. We arrived in the town of Poughkeepsie, NY and soon found our way to Blue Collar Brewery. Blue Collar has it all; amazing beer, an enthusiastic brewer, and a wonderful atmosphere. Randall Marquis, co-owner and brewer, was behind the bar during our visit so we have plenty of information to share on the blog. Continue reading
